VELAR DDC is a Design, Design Development and Design Project Management practice servicing the greater New England area.
We listen to our creative clients' stories. These stories inform a clear pathway enriched with design motivation and purpose. We develop these stories into sustainable environments that aim to strengthen people's connections to each other and their surroundings.
Our name embodies our mission: VELAR means "to ensure," "to look after" in Spanish and DDC stands for Design, Development and Construction. At VELAR, we look after the project's vision from project inception through project completion. To accomplish our client's goals, we foster relationships with local designers, architects, craftsmen, vendors and contractors who bring in their expertise in sustainable alternatives to traditional materials and processes.
With over 8 years of experience in the AEC industry, founder and Principal Sandra (San) Bonito leverages expertise from real estate development, design, construction and studio art. San received architectural degrees from Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Columbia University and Miami Dade College. She is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the International Interior Design Association. San produces many of the art works for the interiors she designs. Sandra is also an Adjunct Professor of Architectural Studies and Interior Architecture at Endicott College of Visual and Performing Arts.

In the DESIGN phase, we answer the question: WHY do you want to do this project? We look at aesthetic, environmental, historical and experiential aspirations to arrive at a the project's vision. This process may take the form of Site Analysis, Historic Research, Scope Programming, Budget Creation, Concept Design, and so on.
DEVELOP

DESIGN
In the DEVELOP phase, we answer the question: HOW will the project's vision materialize? We interpret, visualize, iterate, discover and produce the means to the project's success. We partner with architects, engineers, vendors and contractors comfortable with a variety of project scales from renovations to new construction of single to multifamily homes, retail, healthcare and hospitality projects.

In the CONSTRUCT phase we answer the question: WHAT is the project's final return? We strive to deliver improved financial, environmental, spatial and experiential returns. VELAR DDC will work with ours and/or your construction partners to ensure that the Construction Phase delivers the created VALUE of the project. This process may take the form of Project Procurement, Construction Administration, Quality Control, FF & E (Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment) Branding and Marketing, Graphic Design, Artwork Design, and more.
